February 2015 Open Show

The Bohunt Centre,
Longmoor Road,
Liphook,
Hants,
GU30 7NY

Sunday 8th February 2015

        Judge: Jackie Smart (Arnhem)

First of all I would like to thank the club for inviting me to judge your open show and also to the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to go over your dogs. Thanks to my stewards who kept the ring in good order so that everything ran smoothly.
I was pleased with my overall entry but I was a little disappointed with the fitness level on some exhibits especially in the higher classes. I found more quality in the bitches today and their level of fitness was better also.

JOLLYJONS LAST ONE STANDING

Top sized bl/br with strong head of good proportions. He has good dentition, neat ears and a dark eye. He also has good bone and tidy feet. Would have preferred a little more width of chest but he has a good spring of rib and enough depth of brisket. Enjoyed his time on the mat.

KYLESTAFF MUDDY WATER

7 month old Bl/br with head developing nicely. He has neat rose ears which sit nicely on the skull and a good bite. He has enough rib at this stage of his development.
His front is straight and he has neat feet with dark nails. Loses his topline a little on the move but hopefully this will improve in time.

CWMCALON HUGO BOSS

Strong bl/br puppy of 10 months. Well boned straight front on neat, well padded feet. He has a head of good proportions with strong muzzle, dark eye and neat ear carriage. Enough rib and depth to brisket, though I would prefer a little more width to chest. He held his topline at all times. He's in nice condition and moved well enough especially behind. Best Puppy Dog.

CARFURY BAL DHU

Standard sized dark brindle/white just out of puppy. He possesses a strong well defined head of good proportions. He has neat ear carriage and a round eye which you would prefer a shade darker. Love the strength of muzzle on this chap, having depth as well as width. He has a lovely front with enough width and good shoulder placement. He has a compact body and is short coupled. His topline is level and he has a defined waist leading on to rear quarters that are firm to the touch and he moved well up and down the mat . His fitness level beat off the OD for the Reserve Best Dog slot. Well done.

Miss R. J. Hawken
2nd ANTROBOSS FLIP THE SWITCH AT BARBORY

Another bl/br just under 16 months. This boy was presented in hard condition. Not as strong in the head as the winner but he has a blocky muzzle housing good dentition. He has neat ears though he's a little reluctant to use them. His eye is dark and well placed to look straight ahead. He has a compact body with good spring of rib and enough depth of brisket.
He is well tucked up in the loin and is short coupled. He has strong, well muscled rear quarters and a good bend of stifle. Handler tends to over stretch him. Moved well holding his topline.

Bl/br/white. Well proportioned head with distinct stop. Alert expression, neatest of ears only enhanced it. He has good strength of muzzle with a good bite. Straight front with good bone but would prefer a tad more width of chest. Super feet, well padded with no weakness at pastern. Good depth to brisket, would prefer a little more shape to rib. Moved well with a level topline, tail carried well. Couldn't compete with the winner in the fitness stakes today.

1st CH TRUFFLESTAFF MONIFA KANIKA J.W.

The star of the day for me. This bitch oozes class and quality from nose to tail and is a firm favourite of mine and I would like to thank the owner for giving me the chance to judge her though there's not much I can say about her that hasn't already been said before. She may be in veteran but still has what it takes to win. She has the most adorable feminine head with an expression to die for, she is well balanced, stood foursquare and moved beautifully today. She has everything you hope to find when judging and put some of her younger opposition to shame in the fitness department too. Best Bitch & Best In Show.

Mr. & Mrs. S. Hopkins
2nd SUNNYSTONE STEEL MAGNOLIA

Standard dark brindle with head of strength. She is in good condition for her 10 years with a good tuck up in the loins. She has tremendous ribcage and her brisket has correct depth. Her movement isn't the best but she seemed to enjoy strutting her stuff up and down the mat.

1st FELKIRKSTAFF AT STARHAZE

Nicely balanced bl/br puppy who stood foursquare. Enough strength to muzzle housing a good bite. Her foreface is clean with no excess flesh. She has a nice head shape with good eye and ear placement. Angulation is correct front and rear. Her body is compact and she is short coupled. Her front is straight with enough bone and no looseness at the elbow. She has neat feet and black nails. On the move she has the tendency to pace but I saw enough to know her movement is OK and is an issue that needs addressing. Best Puppy Bitch & Best Puppy in Show.

Mr. P. Barke
2nd STAROLESTAFF LADY BEA WITH SIRIUSTAFF

Standard sized brindle with much to like. Stronger head properties than 1. She has a clean foreface with no excess flesh, distinct stop, dark eye and good ear carriage. She is in lovely coat condition. She has a straight front though a tad narrow. She has good feet with good pigmentation to nails. She has enough rib and brisket for this stage of her development. Her waist is defined and is nicely tucked up in the loin. She is a little longer in the body than winner and this was my deciding factor but overall a nice puppy who should have some fun times ahead.

1st DYNASTAFF PURE SCIENCE

Bl/br bitch with good head proportions. She has a good dark eye and well placed ears which are well placed. Liked her expression, alert and on her toes showing interest in what was going on. She has a good bite and good width/depth to muzzle. Good shoulder placement and a straight front which was well boned. She is a bit of a live wire on the move and prefers to do most things but walk!!.....which she did eventually. She is strong bodied for age with a good spring of rib. Tends to lose her topline a little on the move but hopefully this will improve as she matures on. Overall a nice puppy.

Mr. Dave Manito
2nd STAROLESTAFF ARABELLA AT BOSCADOR

Smaller bitch all round than winner. Bl/br who shows herself well. Neatest of feet on straight limbs and she has good pigmentation. She has pronounced cheek muscles and a lovely dark eye which enhance her feminine head. Ears are ok though they could have done with a neater fold. She has a nice shape to her rib, enough width to chest but doesn't need her brisket to drop anymore. She is short coupled with a good bend of stifle. Good rear angulation and moves OK.

1st BOLDSTOCK HERE I AM

This bl/br/wh bitch was presented in super condition and her owner should be commended for the work that has been put into her. She was alert and on her toes taking in everything that was happening around her. She has a strong but feminine head, the darkest round eye and neat ears which she used continuously. She has pronounced cheek bumps and strong muzzle all which enhance her expression. She is well boned with straight limbs on neat well padded feet. Her body is well developed and solid, with good spring of rib tapering to a defined waist. She has a well developed backend and moved well. One with a bright future. 2nd BOLDSTOCK AM I BOVERED

Another in gleaming coat....this time a lovely stripy brindle who happens to be the litter sister to 1. Liked the expression on this bitch, good ratio of skull to muzzle, dark eye and neat rose ears. Bite is good and teeth were clean. She has a straight well boned front but not quite the width of chest of her sibling. Her topline is a smidge better and she moved nicely front and back. She has the correct depth of brisket and enough rib. Nicely tucked up in loin and good bend of stifle. Not quite at the same fitness level yet as winner. Two nice bitches.

1st SUNNYSTONE OLYMPIC DREAM

No lippiness on this bitch, she has the cleanest of muzzles and super dentition. She is at the bottom end of the standard size wise and could do with an extra inch to balance her out as she is a little stocky for her size. She is in wonderful condition with well developed first and second thigh muscles. This bl/br is short coupled and well off for rib. She has good width of chest but would like a tad less depth to her brisket. She has a nice head shape and darkest of eyes. Ear could be neater. Best mover in the class.

Mrs. G. Thomas
2nd SAMTAN START IN OVER AT KYLESTAFF

STAROLESTAFF MYSTIC MIMI OF ANTROBOSS JW

Gleaming bl/br in super nick. She has well developed thigh muscles which propelled her up the mat with ease, moving well front and rear. She is compact and short coupled with a good spring of rib. Her front is straight with enough bone and she stands on neat feet. She has a good head shape with pronounced cheek muscles. Her dentition is also good. Not a fan of her topline as she tends to hunch up which can spoil her outline though it does seem to be OK when she is more relaxed.

Hopgood & Kerry
2nd RAYNSTAFF DIDJA EVER

Bl/br/wh. Nice shaped head with correct length of muzzle to balance. Muzzle has good depth and width and housed good dentition. She has a nice expression enhanced when she uses her ears . She is slightly longer in the body than winner but has a better topline. She has a good front, good shape to rib and she is short coupled. Moved OK just not in the same physical condition of winner.

Bl/br/wh with a lovely, feminine headpiece of good proportions. Clean foreface, good mouth and strong muzzle. She possesses the neatest of ears and a dark eye. Good pigmentation. She has good rear movement and hold her topline at all times. She is a little out at the elbow but she has a compact body with good rib, correct depth of brisket and well tucked up in loin. In good condition.

T.&  K. Reed
2nd ROUGESTAFF FLAMING ICE

Red/wh pied, finer than winner. She is in good order and moves well enough holding her topline. She is longer backed than 1 but I prefer her front. She has enough bone to balance, enough brisket, good width to chest and a defined ribcage. Good bend to stifle and light in the loins. She moved well both ways. Just preferred the head strength and expression of 1.
