A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT,
ANN GATENBY |
|
23rd
February 2016
"This is a message from your rather ancient old President to all
concerned.
Well, we have done it - arrived at 25 years, and we are still (I
hope) the happy and friendly club that we set out to be at that
first meeting. When I announced in the Dog World that there would
be a meeting of like-minded people who wanted to have a club right
down here on the south coast that would cater for people who wanted
to have fun with their dogs and to have shows that they didn’t have
to travel hundreds of miles to go to, I didn’t expect the following.
The hall was booked and when the meeting was due to start, there was
standing room only - WOW! My husband took the chair and lots of
people had lots to say and at the end of the meeting it was a
definite "YES". Almost everyone signed up as founder members - and
we were on the way.
Anyway, here we are after 25 years and we had a wonderful show on
Sunday. I have to say a very big “thank you“ to a simply superb
committee for the tremendous amount of hard work they put in on the
day and of course the massive amount of preparation that goes with
running an important show beforehand. Also, thank you to all the
wonderful exhibitors without whom there would be no show.
On a personal note, I also have to say a big thank you for the
beautiful flowers and the gift presented to me at the show and I
have to say I felt very humble because all I was doing over those
many years was doing what I loved and “enjoying myself “.
Anyway, my last thank you goes (of course) to the beautiful dogs,
for without them - there would be no club. I just adore my
Staffords and I don’t care if they never win anything again in their
lives, I couldn’t live without them – bless their little cotton
paws!!!
Anyway, enough from me. Keep on coming and promoting the breed and
give your dogs all the love and protection you can – they
are the best breed in the world. (Sorry to all of us who are Border
Terrier and Frenchie people – they run a very strong second!!!)
All my love,
Ann |
