May 2007 Open Show
The Bohunt Centre,
Longmoor Road,
Liphook
Hants
Sunday 13th May 2007
Judges: Mrs. Caroline Dewar (Euphemia)
- Bitches
Mike Whelan - Dogs
Referee: Jamie Mace (Janastaff)
"My thanks to Downlands
Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge my first Breed Club show and for
organising a very enjoyable and memorable day.
Thanks also to my stewards for their keen assistance and to all exhibitors for
the very pleasing entry.
I set out to look for quality, type, standard size and balance in my selection
and believe with the entry I had my winners fit these requirements well.
I have not referred to mouths at all as in most cases these were correct and
most exhibits were presented in good condition although some needed attention
regarding show preparation and general fitness. However, some problems
continually evident and needing attention in our breeding program were lippiness,
upright shoulder bones (scapula) and short upper arm bones (humerus), poor
toplines, flat front feet with long nails and high tail carriages. In
addition bone,
either too much or too little was significantly noticeable." - Caroline
Dewar
"First I would like to
thank the Downlands for inviting me to judge and for my stewards who worked well
and many thanks. There were a few classes where
positions will no doubt change in the future and splitting hairs it came down
to." - Mike Whelan

ROTHERSTAFF LA DOLCE VITA
Tidy b/b of eight months, nicely
constructed youngster. At this stage her skull has yet to develop
but she is clean fronted with correct shoulder angulation, her topline was
level standing and on the move and her rear quarters strong with an
acceptable bend of stifle.

TAUNIC TOUCH ANDGO
Pleasing b/w. Slightly stronger and
more mature than 1st. Again, nicely constructed. Skull
development coming on with good round eye, correct shoulder angulation and
up on pasterns, level topline and well-defined rear quarters. Lost
out to 1st on cosmetic points, the need of a good manicure.

SIRON'S GIFT Eight
month b/w, very nice type. Plenty of bone for a youngster of this
age but with balance also. Very nice headshape with skull
development coming on well. Strong muzzle with good underjaw, clean
lipped, ears tidy, round eye. Strong forequarters with correct
shoulder angulation and good depth of brisket. Nicely ribbed, level
topline and well-angulated rear end. She moved parallel with plenty
of drive. Needs to settle down and gain confidence in the ring and
on the move and her young handler can help achieve this. Best
Puppy Bitch.

LEGACY OF KRISKAT Nearly twelve month
b/b. Plenty to like about this promising youngster. Neat and
tidy all round. Attractive headpiece, very nice skull shape, stop
and muzzle. Clean lipped. Neat ears. Straight front,
good general body shape, dark pigment, moved and handled well. On
the day preferred the overall substance of 1st and felt further maturity
will hopefully enhance this young lady.

VEKLORRA SAFFRON
JEWEL Standard, quality, typy sixteen
month red that I liked very much. Very nice headpiece, excellent
skull shape, round eye and placement, strong muzzle, clean lipped, neat
ears giving very pleasing overall expression. Clean front with
correct shoulder angulation and depth of brisket. Nicely ribbed,
topline that is beautifully level on the move, a rarity these days, and
enhanced by a low pump handle tail carriage. Good thigh and upper
thigh muscle development. Moved parallel. In excellent
condition, a credit to her owner. Pushed very hard for best bitch in
the line up but she lost out on maturity. However, a worthy Reserve

with strong well-shaped head, well set ears, dark round eye, giving typy
expression. Preferred her side outline to her front one. Level
topline, good rear end angulation. Lovely pigment. Good
