Leger Kings Gambit By Ramblix
wins November 2006 Best In Show
19th November 2006 - Many congratulations to Mrs. Y.
Hedges and Mrs Z. Robinson who's dog Leger Kings Gambit By Ramblix was
awarded
the Best in Show in a unanimous decision by judges Alan Muir (Dogs) and Eunice
Pocknell (Bitches). The services of referee Bruce Nicolls (Sarleen)
were not required on this occasion. Reserve Best In Show and Best Opposite
Sex went to Mr. J. & Mrs. V. Brown's bitch Araidh Ladies Wot Lunch at
Rotherstaff. Best Puppy in Show
was won by Mrs. L. Brown and Mr. K. Harper's bitch Veklorra Saffron Jewel.
Many thanks to Alan, Eunice and Bruce for their services, and congratulations to
all exhibitors who were placed at today's show. To see all the placings,

The show was hampered yet again by the lack of a PA System, despite one having
been promised, and the committee are working hard to remedy
this for the future.
The judges' write-ups will be added to the web
page when they are received by the Downlands.

June 2006 Dog Judge's Critique

Downlands so speedily. The Show Results Page
has been updated with his comments.
Veklorra on a Hy is June 2006 Best In Show
25th June 2006 - Well
done and congratulations to Lorraine Brown and Kevin Harper, whose Dog Veklorra
on a Hy
was awarded best
in show at The Downlands June 2006 Open
Show. Referee Ann Gatenby made the tricky decision as bitch judge John
Frankham and
dog judge Steve Robinsom were unable to agree. Despite the impending
England match, the show was relatively well-attended, and those
spectating saw Mr. & Mrs. S.C. Hopkins' dog Trufflestaff Toffee Truffle
J.W. reserve best in show and best opposite
sex. The Hopkins'
made it two bests as their dog Trufflestaff Kid Gloves was judged best
puppy in show.
The show finished just before three, which hopefully gave most of the
exhibitors and spectators time to get home to watch England's
victory over Ecuador.
Well done to all exhibitors and their dogs who were
placed today, and many thanks to all who attended for making the
show the success
that it was.

2006 Annual General Meeting
5th March 2006 - The
2006 Annual General Meeting of the Downlands Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club was
held at Petersfield Community Centre
today. A disappointing turn out of only 18 members heard end-of-year
reports from the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. All those
committee
members who stood down were re-elected.
The judges for the 2008 shows were selected - pending
acceptance from those judges - and membership fees for 2007 are unchanged.
Lorraine Brown and Jamie Mace were jointly presented the Perleen Shield (for the
dog or bitch gaining most points at shows in a year).
Our thanks to those members who took the time and trouble
to come and have a say in how their club is run.
February 2006 Judge's Critiques

to Ken Meneer and Steve Bradder for getting their judge's write-ups to the
Downlands so quickly. These have now

Dazzling White Lad By Gularrens
is awarded February 2006 Best In Show
12th February 2006 - Well
done and congratulations to Mr. Barren and Miss Guiver as their dog Dazzling
White Lad by Gularrens
was awarded best in show at The Downlands February 2006 Open
Show. Referee Mary Coble was not required as both Steve Bradder
(Dogs) and Ken Meneer (Bitches) were unanimous in their decisions. The
well-attended show saw M. Pritchard's bitch
Foxstaff Mystic Magic win reserve best in show and best opposite
sex. Miss L. Sullivans bitch Current Romance was judged best
puppy in show.
As always, congratulations to all exhibitors and their dogs who were
placed today, and our thanks to all who attended for making the
show the success that it was.

2006 AGM notices posted
10th February 2006 - in the next few days, all members of
the Downlands will be receiving their notification of the 2006 Annual General
Meeting of the club. As previously advised, this will be held at
Petersfield Community Centre on Sunday 5th March. All members are
urged to come along and have your say, after all, it is YOUR club, and up to you
how it is run.
